Known World Dance and Music Symposium

Thursday June 15th, 2017 to Sunday June 18th, 2017

Come one; come all to the SCA's Known World Dance and Music Symposium. This event is a multi-day experience full of classes aimed at the medieval and renaissance time period. Past events have had several tracks of dance classes covering topics like: Italian dance from the 15th century, Italian dance from the 16th century, dances from England, and dances from France. These classes have ranged from rank beginner to wow that was difficult. We will also have music classes focusing on the same genres listed above as well as additional topics that are specific to musicians. On Friday and Saturday nights, there will be balls! Please see our website at: www.kwdms.org (still working on content).

Registration: The deadline for preregistration is now MAY 31. Prices go up quite a bit after the preregistration deadline. There are three ways to register: by mail, in person, and via PayPal. Please see our website (http://kwds.org/registration.php?kwds=12) for details on registration.

Proceedings: A proceedings book is a book containing all the class notes from the symposium. There will be an electronic version available for free on the website (the link is not available yet). You can also purchase a printed version for $12 during preregistration or a limited supply will be available for $15 at the door. Details are on the registration page.

Registration to Teach a Classes
Classes that are registered by April 15 will have the class notes included in the proceedings book. After that date, it will be up to the proceedings editor to include classes registered. You need to have an account to register a class. Once you create an account, you can submit a class using “submit a class” on the left hand side. If you want to take a class or just join in the fun, you do not need an account on the website.

Location: Radisson Hotel - North Baltimore, 2004 Greenspring Drive, Baltimore MD 21093

Hotel Update: Our main hotel is full. We have contracted with a nearby hotel for overflow. See the website for more information.

The closet airport is BWI (Baltimore/Washington International). While there isn’t a shuttle, one can easily get a taxi or Uber from the airport or use the light rail. Sometimes it is cheaper or there are better flight options for other airports. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) is an alternative to consider. However, the distance is much greater and DC area traffic is notoriously bad. With no traffic the distance from BWI to the hotel is 24 miles (estimated 30 mins), for DCA the distance is 60 miles (estimated 1 hour 20 mins).
